I owned this bike 17 years ago. As a teenager I knew a guy who had a Yamaha SR500. One of the first ones with the black tank and gold pin striping on the tank. When I saw his SR500 I loved the look of that big single engine. I knew one day I would have a SR500.... This poor bike had 2 rebuilds in very short time. Don't ask. Forgot to tighten the cam-chain sprocket bolts? Ouch...that must have been messy, and noisy. Anyway, welcome to the forum. Perhaps you'll come across another SR500/400 some time and get back into it.

Hi. Yes there was alot of noise for a very brief moment. Then silence from the engine.
I have been out to DEUS and drooled over their SRs out there. Maybe one day I will get another SR.

An 'H' model...I have one of these that I'm turning into a cafe racer...not that mine ever end up any other way... sigh...heh, heh...I originally bought it from a mate of mine and rode it to an indicated 100,000kms before pulling it down to modify it. Good fun. Incidentally, it was still running fine... Look at getting another one and compliment the single you already own... SR  |

I would love one of the Deus™ SR400 'TT'. But would have to sell the kids to be able to buy one. Now theres an idea...  |

I have 3 bikes in the Garage. I also have a none running XV1100 with 1 1/2 sidecar. So to get an SR at the moment... is ... well.... There is no more room.  |
