Well, I found these old pics of my SR500 when I first got it home, someone painted it up to "try" and look like an old matchless, right now, i have put a new tank on it, and sanded down the side covers, with primer on them (it then suddenly became to cold to shoot my color coat, so i had to leave it that way all winter) Also, you can see the other kawasaki triple that my father and I are restoring, this one will be mostly all original, except with a set of 400 triple cylinders and heads on it, and painted white instead of red. Take Care, Curtis

and just so you guys know, that rusted kawi fork tube cleaned up well with some fine steel wool...
haha, just kiddin, i bought a used set of forks for it (those are NOT the orginals, it has a "2 stage" front end, where you can have a trailing axle, or leading axle, just depends where you put the axle and wheel on!)
I had the used set of forks chromed at a shop, just so there was no chance of any little rust pits comming up within a year, and for 200 bucks for the pair, i couldnt go wrong.
Oh, and the header pipe of my SR was completly covered in oil, and it all burned on to it, that is why it looks really dark in the picture.

Those pics bring back some memories. My first street bike was a 1974 Kawasaki 400 triple. Went like a rocket in a straight line but handled like crap until I put a steering damper and decent rims on it. I traded it in for my 1979 SR500 way back in 1980 which I still ride today.

Never seen one done up to look like a" Matchless " (In the name of god what were they thinking) . Do you need a tank ? I've got a couple . Dig the old kwakas , they went sick those tripple 2 strokes . Must be getting hard to get parts for ? Cheers from Dave .

I actually just bought a NOS gas tank for 75 dollars, one of the local cycle salvage guys had one that he had bought the bike, brand new, and didnt even put a cent of gas in it, ripped the tank off and put on a clarke one or something for flat track racing.
