Yeah, I'll post more pics this weekend. A friend shot the vid and I was not aware of it. The wheels came out great, and I took the old KYB's off of my '81 and put them on.

It works well from what I've heard. A friend shot the video without me knowing, then he posted it on youtube for me. I'd like to do some more videos though.

Just looking at the pics of your bike and was wondering if your forks are the standard length??? From the photos they look shorter, may just be te clip ons and no guard thats throwing me. Looks cool anyhow.

Fenz- i think it looks lower cuz the front suspension is shot. It's a apart at my buddies shop right now getting new fork springs and oil, but the bad part is that when the fork caps were last installed, someone used a hammer and a punch to pound/thread them back into place. I always wondered why they looked a little chewed up. So after they were tortured out the fork tubes we could see that the threads were all screwed up, so I have to get some new fork tubes.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've been going to my buds shop to work on it while, and it has been a friggin battle. I dropped the bike off three months ago to get the wheels powdercoated, which ends up not being the best idea for cast aluminum wheels that have a slight amount of corrosion on them. The needed a primer coat to seal the surface of the metal so it would not end up looking like an orange peel, due to the corrosion. So I get the wheels back- nice and shiny. All I have to do is mount them up and I'm out, but first I had to put in some progressive springs in the forks. I go to take of the fork caps and wonder they are all chewed up inside. It looked like the hex key fitting in was crushed, yet the perimeter of the and cap were perfectly round. AS my friend and I were figuring on how we were going to take it out- we realized that a punch was used to overtighten the cap into place. Eventually we just slammed a hex key into the cap to get a hold of it. It was so jammed into place that it took about five minutes of the impact wrench just to get the thing to budge. The it was apparent that the forks were trash. Along with the forks I was going to put in some new brake pads. The calipers were junk also, so I needed new pistons and seals. Weeks passed and all my parts came in. SS pistons, a complete gasket set, a set of KYB's off of a 4000mile donor SR, cables from Vanem, and other bits. So here are some early pics of the latest iteration.

Mate it's looking OK. A real cafe racer... Always fun fixing up the problems left over from other owners isn't it. I remember years ago working an a blokes immaculate RX1000 Kawa...just getting the fairing off that bike was a problem...the previous owner had loctited the fairing screws into the brass inserts in the plastic fairing...so, about 5 or 6 stripped out inserts later and lots of cursing, the fairing came off...no fun at all... The same owner (...I guess...) had loctited the top cam chain guide screws in as well (...and stripped out the screw heads!)...it was nerve wracking getting them out too...they screw into long narrow alloy posts on the head...I was waiting for the crack of fractured alloy... Luckily no cracking sounds were heard... SR
