Just took my headlight out to check the globe - high beam won't work - and got a surprise...there isn't one! That is, there's no distinct removable globe, so it seems, but some permanent fixture. What's up with that? I'm guessing it must be made of material that just doesn't blow? Is this stock?
Any way, off to fumble my way around trying to solve the mystery of no high beam...(started flickering while I was riding, and going on and off, and now nothing!)

Sounds like you have what I call a sealed beam. i.e. reflector and filament are one sealed unit rather than a reflector with a globe in it. If its a standard 7 inch unit, you should be able to go to autopro and buy the whole bit. A lot of these halogen sealed beams are kinda standard/generic. For example, when I had my 1964 EH Holden which had a standard head light with a bulb, I found that the spare halogen sealed beam units my brother had for his 1984 Landcruiser fitted straight in where the original headlight went. He never missed 'em. Mick
