Had my first run today after rebuild. Engine started very easily and ran sweet. Then I tried to stop it with kill switch and the bike kept running. Turned the ignition off and the bike kept running. Horn and lights work ok when running...(have no battery) and the neutral light goes off if I turn the key off, but no engine stopping. Had to turn fuel off to get it to stop. I expected problems starting not stopping it!! Have checked all connections etc. Sadly I an't that good with electrics....never have been, can't see the d**n stuff. Any ideas where I should look.

hi nemesis
Try cleaning all the plug connections especially the one that comes from the stator. These get corrosion in them and you need to have a connection to kill the engine

Well this is wierd!!! Went out to bike this morning for some more work into why it would not stop. Kicked it over many times....nothing. Checked spark....nothing. Having spare parts made easy to check everything. Spare ignition coil, CDI, rectifier and plug all used and non spark. Checked HT lead and good contact. Used multimeter and pulser coil resistance were within limits. Charge coil resistance figures were all over the place both for high/low speed. It might appear from what I have written here I know something about this.......I know nothing, but can read a manual!!!! From everything I have done it looks as if the alternator has gone. How would this explain that yesterday could not stop bike and today cannot get a spark?
