so my stator seems to work well enough to start the bike, but as it warms up, it will miss and quit - and I mean it's that fast - miss, then quit.
So I pulled my magneto and looked at this new / used stator closely and some of the protective covering is gone from the copper wire. It flaked off and there is shiny new copper exposed. Could this be allowing a short or something while running?
If so, how do I re-cover that copper wiring?
I'll post a pic later - if my wife ever gets our camera back from her co-workers.... sigh

CRC make a good airdry motor varnish (you can actually use clear laquer if no oil & not too much heat) . But it sounds to me like one of your pickup coils isnt too flash so a rewind may be the order . Electrical things are always stuffing up(they are made to fail I recon) but I wont complain as that is how I put food on my table mostly cheers Dave.
