I have been having problems with my flasher unit since I got this bike. While a stock replacement is on the way via ebay, I have been trying automotive units that I get at the parts store, I found that a two lug auto flasher plugs right in to the three lug conector and works perfectly and by passes the self cancel unit with out removing ay other conectors. The flasher is a buss #520 $1.96 and I pluged it in to the heavy brown and the brown/white. I am hoping that the stock flasher works when I get it but untill then I will self cancel just like I did on most bikes before this one and some since.

Previous owner of one of my SR's had also replaced the round flasher unit with a generic type losing the auto cancel feature. I wasn't sure if it was the real problem or if it was the square module that was failed. Please post a report if this did fix the problem on your bike. Thanks, Wick

Well I got the flasher unit today, it is not the right one. My cross refrence guy misled me. If any one has a need for an rd 350 or prior to 78 xs650 flasher I just put one up on ebay. When I find a stock replacement for less than the 65 bucks that yamaha wants I will post my results

Price sounds right but the info says it is for a 2j4 79 and newer is it the same part for the 2j2 78?

Well I recieved the flasher unit today in the mail 10.85 pounds to my door. I was inpressed with the quick service, 5.46 pounds ship and handling, of which postage was 1.58. not bad buttttt it is the wrong part. It is a generic motorcycle flasher unit with two lugs. It works the same as the $2 buss, two lug flasher I had already picked up, still no self canceling feature. Oh well it does mount cleanly on the stock location so I will use it.

I wouldn't worry about it , my unit plays up sometimes on my SR sometimes its got a mind of its own & cancels too early . Its not a feature that was popular as I've never seen it on any other bike ? cheers Dave.
