I got caught in the rain on my SR500 stocker yesterday. It is the first time I had it in the wet and the bike died coming to a stopsign. It did kick back off. As I was coasting into the driveway, it couldn't stay on idle and died again. Any ideas on where to look first?? It seemed to run o.k. at power. Just wouldn't stay going off throttle coming to a stop. Thanks, Wick

the exact same thing happened to me after some heavy rain and believe me when i say i know how you feel. i ended up stripping and cleaning the fuel tank incase of water in the fuel, then i stripped the carb several times, nothing worked!!! it would start up then die pretty quickly and i was at my wits end. i finally went over all the electrics making sure all the connections were sound and gave each one a spray with some wd-40 an would you believe it! it was cured!!!
must have been an intermittent electrical fault, loose wire etc that had moisture getting into it and the wd-40 sorted that, so id try it and see what happens!!
(make sure its not your carb too as it may have been coincidence that it was raining when it broke down)

hmmm, on second thoughts it actually sounds like the air/fuel screw may have rattled a bit loose, check that before doing anything else.
