Hoo Hoo! I rewired my bike some time ago. Got it down to about 3 feet of 14 ga. So I find the ignition off switch wouldn't shut down the engine, I 'm looking around and decide to pull off the spark plug wire. Yeow! I smacked my hand on the tank, my elbow on the frame, Jumped with a jerk and tried to clear the bike frame but it fell on my leg and fell on top of me, then it leaked fuel on me! Talk about embarrassing! You hadda be there I guess. By the way, this little nimble number is way more fun than my TR6. It's gotta be 100# lighter, and though it won't cruise, it will LAY DOWN IN THE CORNERS! Haha! It's a winner. Messing with the stock carb every day is a bother, though.

Chuck that stock carb and get an XT or TT unit. I am at that stage right now. When that 34mm unit starts to go, its bad and not worth the effort.

Next time flick it off with a scewdriver . The coils on these babys can put out 30-40Kvs . It will wake you up! Sometimes not a bad thing ? But I prefer coffee ! I used to own a 1972 honda 125 elsinor & when you went through a puddle water would come up & hit the coil . the tank was insulated from the frame so it would put the old nutsack into its earth return . It was both painful & frightening ! They all did it ask anyone who had one .

Right on with that carb, ed. But I've had this stock carb down to its skivvies so often its like we're intimate or something. Now, I don't want to give up on a good thing, would you? When it starts costing me money, that's where I draw the line. Right now it's held together with bubblegum and bailing wire. And dave, I'm asking around for an elsinor. That sounds like fun. . . NOT!

Hi, Ah yes the Elsinore...a fried years ago had a first model CR250...the throttle stuck wide open and he was in real trouble...he used the kill switch and it was revving so hard it didn't work...the spark possibly jumped the gap. He ended up 'arrested' by a barbed wire fence and needed quite a few stitches. No fun at all... By the way when you say ignition switch, did you still have a kill switch in the SR's system at all? SR

I got rid of the keyswitch, the guages, turn signals and tons of wires. I just ran an on/off switch off the batt and a lights on/off switch, and a headlight hi/lo in the headlamp housing. I also riveted a horn button onto the handlebars. After cutting everything apart I realized I still had to ground the B/W wire off the CDI to kill 'r, so I soldered what little bit of copper that was hanging off the kill switch on the throttle. Ha ha! Didn't do a great job, the wires frayed and came apart. That was the problem. I've drilled another hole to mount a third switch, a kill switch I can reach in a pinch. Below the batt cover I bolted some tin that conveniently handles all the switches. I figure if someone wants to steal it, there's no stopping them. The key is just a formality. I lock it up with a chain. Flat black with a 5/16" chain hanging off, looks mean! Oh, added a few skull and crossbones stickers to it, too. What a loser! That's where I got my monicker, posereddie. Hey, I've got some nice rides, though, a coupla old Harleys, the Tiger, and this menacing tot. They all run, make lots of noise. Ha ha!
