I filled my bike up today to the brim. Took 9.3l to fill it up. Looked at my tripmeter and it said 278km.
Mostly around town riding with a little bit of 100kmh zones in the mix.
That equates to 30km to every litre. Its a standard old SR that gets putted around. I dont ride it hard at all. I have a gixxer for that.
3.43 litres/100km = 82 MPG
Is this normal?
Cheers

Chris , I've got 3 SRs & none of them get that kind of economy. I get around 200-220ks a tank! I'd be interested to know the ratios you are running & I'll set one up the same to see what the power sacrifice is compared to top end/economy . I'm about to set up a cafe` with a 42 rear 16 front but I'd like to try a 40 if I can get one , cheers Dave

Chris,
30L/km is exceptionally good , I normally get around the 18 - 20L/km on my stock SR on my normal ride to work (10km of open road and 3 km 60km limit). I have got similar economy to what you mention, but that was riding really gently in a club economy run many years ago. With the cost of petrol nowdays it would be good to get those figures all the time.

Never really checked but what the others are saying sounds about what i get on my 15km ride to work. Biggest factor is i have to much fun twisting the throttle. What starts off as a nice easy ride to work ends up being a give it heaps blast to work. Really is a great start to the morning to get off the bike in the carpark at work and think damm that felt good...

Trumpychris, check your conversion... 278 km on 9.3l is 29.89 km/l. Ask Google "29.89 km/l in mpg?" and it will tell you 70.31 (rounded), which is about right for an SR in top nick.
