I got the Thumperstuff kit for my '81 H model (great to deal with by the way!) and all is good, bike is running and all, but I have the feeling something is missing at the top of the new carb. Even though the throttle cable screws in nicely to the top piece, it seems odd that you then can't screw the cap back on with out either removing the carb or the throttle cable. Could anyone with one of these carbies enlighten me and/or tell me the trick I'm missing? I'll try and post a pic...

Roadster,
Thats the way there meant to go, to take them off you just pull the carb to side and unscrew it off the cap.

Thanks Curly - I guess I expected that somehow you'd be able to get the threads on the throttle cable further down into the carby. It came up because I don't seem to be able to adjust the cable enough to get the suggested free play at the throttle grip end - will have to experiment some more I guess!!

Hi,
A lot of the Mics fitted to Yams etc. have a circlip holding the angle on the inside...that allows the cap to turn without rotating the cable end...you may be able to adapt one of those cables to that carby with a little work. You can get a nice rubber dust boot for them as well.
