The carb is something I know nothing about - and don't even know where to start.
I've heard that thumperstuff sells a carbouretter, manifold and K&N filter for a very reasonable price ($400AUD - might be worth checking out?)

most carbs are cheaper to rebuild BUT the SR stock carb is a complex carby, with diaphragms and what not. If you're not sure what you're doing, it may be cheapr to buy a simpler used carb and rebuild that.

hi rusty,i rebuilt my stock carb with a kit of the web,one of many that are ready available.my advice is this;if your not confident of stripping it and replacing the bits with new dont try it,its not the degree of difficulty but it is fiddly.i did mine and was reasonably pleased but eventually bought a new replacement vm34 mikuni which worked a treat plus piece of mind that you know it will give years of service.i personally think the stock carb is a bit to complex and prone to wear out beyond reasonable refurbishment.if funds permit go for a new replacement NOT secondhand. regards, andy

Cool thanks. I plan on buying a new one, just not sure what size. Is 34mm the standard size?

I have an 81' with a mikuni carb. I don't know if these numbers mean anything but theres a B F6 on the side of the carb.

hi rusty, forgot to mention,if you buy a new replacement be sure that its got a vacuum take off pipe/stub.you will notice by looking at your fueltap that there are 2 pipes,1 is for fuel the other is for the vacuum.although this problem can be overcome another way by fitting a new carb manifold with a vacuum stub.this is important if you want your tap to work as it should i.e 3 ways:- prime, fuel on,reserve. andy

What are the other two stubs on the back and other side of the manifold? Are there any good diagrams that show what everything is and hooks up to?
