Not sure which part of the forum to post this up. When I start the bike, it sometimes blows black smoke, sometimes greyish-white (other times nothing). I then rev the bike a couple of times and the smoke is gone. Should I be checking anything serious on the bike (my ol' GT550 started blowing smoke, and that was the beginning of the end), or does it sound simply like the fuel air mixture. I'm not greatly knowing with engines, but somebody said that singles will burn a bit of oil - hence the smoke - and not to worry. What do you guys reckon? The smoke does not return after a couple of good revs. Cheers, Matt

My bike does the same thing. I think the valve guide seals are shot and when the bike sits for awhile, a bit of oil drips into the combustion chamber and burns up when starting. It doesn't bug me at all.
