My SR has a cracked throttle/twisty part. I have no idea what it is called. When I call it a "throttle" or "throttle body" the local shop guy looks at me like he doesnt understand. He keeps trying to sell me the handle part of the throttle. Then he says he cant order my anything without the make and model of the bike. When I explain that it's not a stock part he says I should find someone with it stock on thier bike and ask them what bike they have. The part that is broken is the part that tightens down on the handlebar. I guess the PO got a little too excited and over tightened it. I have a Mikuni round slide carb with a single cable. The throttle on there now is a Magura. Anybody have a place to get a good replacement for this part or what i should search for to find one online? I'm trying to stay away from custom and specialty motorcycle shops because I dont need a fancy chrome one or anything. Thanks Aaron

Hi, The Magura throttles are an aftermarket part (German). They are available in different places but are not as common as they used to be. I'd say you'd need to buy a complete throttle as I doubt they sell parts. I think that Discovolante in the UK may have them but you'd possibly find one closer to home. There would certainly be other throttles that you could use, such as a Yam YZ type and many aftermarket types. There are straight pull types and angle types...many options. You may also have to get another throttle cable to suit the new throttle or modify yours. Discovolante are here: www.discovolantemoto.co.uk/index.jspI'd say Thumperstuff, Deus, Vanem, and many others could assist as well. SR

Hi Aaron, magura throttles came as standard on a lot of ktm dirtbikes, though im not sure about the later models. Try breakers and ktm parts specialists, you may find what you need. Cheers Franky b.
