I've been doing some searching on the internet and I'm not sure if the carb on my 1980 is stock or not. the carb i have doesn't look like this www.siue.edu/~rsutton/SR/mikuni.htmit looks like this  So do i have an xt500 carb? What are the advantages or disadvantages? |

It certainly doesn't look SR but who really knows with all the different stuff they did with the imports at the time . The Aussie SR carb looks like the one in your link . Does it run ? Cheers Dave .

yeah it runs pretty well but then again i have only ridden it around the block a few times. I'm just wondering if i should switch to a stock carb for any reason

It is a stock TT500 or XT500 carb. They are basically the same. Work about the same as the SR500 carb but no accelerator pump. Should be fine. I run one on my 77 XT500 that is from a 79 TT500 and rejeted to match a much bigger exhaust and some other breathing mods. Main jets are standard Mikuni and can be found almost anywhere. I would stick with it if its working properly.

Looks like stock 32mm XT carb.
