I HAVE A CHOPPED SR500...I CHANGED THE GAS TANK OUT TO A MID 7O'S TT500 TANK...WHEN DOING THIS I MADE MY OWN PETCOCK.....I HAD THAT d**n CARB VACUUM INLET CAPPED OFF....BY DOING THIS WOULD IT MAKE MY BIKE RUN EXTRA RICH? OR DO YOU GUYS THINK IT'S SOMETHING ELSE?...LAST NIGHT I DE-CAPPED IT AND BROUGHT MY IDLE DOWN AND THE BIKE SEEMED TO HAVE ALOT MORE HORSEPOWER....WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THE d**n HOLE THAT SUCKS...LITERALLY! HAHAHAHA...

You definitely need to have the line either connected to a fuel shut off or capped as you have done. I wouldn't recommend leaving it open as you run the risk of leaning out too much and possibly incurring some damage. Are there any mods done to the carb? Jetting, different air cleaner etc... Has the carb been cleaned in the recent past? Any possible exhaust restrictions such as a rotted stock muffler etc..? Could your inlet needle assembly be sticking and allowing too much fuel to flow and flooding your unit? If you could supply some more info about the bike and its state of tune, maybe some more accurate advice can be offered.

WELL THE BIKE IS RUNNING A UNI OPEN AIR FILTER WITH A HARLEY DRAG PIPE....STRAIGHT THROUGH...SO I KNOW THE JETTING NEEDS TO BE MESSED WITH...THE SMOG FACILITY THAT I WENT TO HERE IN ARIZONA SAID THAT IT WAS GIVING OUT WAY TOO MUCH CARBONMINOXIDE....I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE CARB OF COURSE AND FIGURED IT MIGHT BE THE CAPPED OFF VACUUM LINE....IT RUNS BETTER WITH IT BREATHING FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON?....

You're gonna need to open up the carb and find out what jets you have, and change them. Leaving the vacuum fitting open is a very bad thing.
