Help needed I have a keihin CR flat slide from a YZF 426 to put on my SR, the problem is that the standard manifold rubber doesn't go anywhere near big enough to fit it. Stew or any of the more knowledgeable members can you help with a readily available manifold that will fit. Cheers Rich

rich, approx what is the od of the carb spicgot? i'm in the process of installing a 40 mm keihin cv carb on mine, approx 45mm od(donated from a harley, hope it works! but they use it on the b last, not a direct bolt on) anyway i used a manifold from mikuni designed for harley applacations (i may be able to supply part #s)to install a spigot style carb on a flange style manifold and they do have several sizes.bolts right on ,although i did add a larger washer because of the differance in hardware size,Bob

Hi Rich,
Yes you could check up with the Sudco guys in the States and see what is available in manifolds. Check the internet. You may have to open out the head port where it mates with the manifold...blend it in...don't let filings get down into the cylinder, a rag stuffed tightly in there will assist. Pull it out carefully!
Only complication is that the Mikuni and Kei-Hin spigots are slightly different, in that the groove machined around the spigot to hold the carby into the manifold is in a different place on both. Not an insurmountable problem...
The other idea may to be to see what comes with the 426 as standard...can that be made to fit onto the SR? I have seen adaptor plates made up that bolt to the head, with the holes lining up with the different manifold spaced 90 degrees opposite. You then bolt the plate to the head and the manifold to the plate and away you go.
Spacing the carby back from the head is not a problem. One Mikuni I have on my black cafe racer is back 4 or 5 inches from standard. Works very well.
Hope that assists...

Hi Rich,
I just noticed you're here in Canberra. Is your bike registered?
We have semi-regular SR rides here in Canberra. If you'd like to come along you're welcome...there are a few SR riders here, although it's variable at times, we can now get about 5 or 6 bikes on the rides.
E-mail me if you're interested. We'll be having another ride sometime in April...
