Hey Steve: I performed the Minton mods on my carb including the slide. I pretty much followed the article exactly. I run a K&N filter in the stock air box. I have a free flowing muffler on a stock headpipe. My bike starts right up, usually on the first kick. I think it runs clean and has super acceleration. I don't know how it would compare to other SR's, but I enjoy it just fine. I never drove my bike with the stock carb set up. I assume it runs better than stock. G Man

Thump, I did it on mine, by the book, but it didn't help the problem I was having, which was cured with an aftermarket carb BUT it seems to have helped many of the people who have used it. Here's a little trick though, which may help you out: Instead of using a file (ouch), I used sandpaper (the kind for metal). I layed a sheet on a hard flat surface and holding the slide very straight, slid it back and forth till I took off the prescribed amount. It doesn't take long so measure often. I used a dial caliper. This for me, was more accurate and neater than using a file. Bronson7
