OK. Just checked the readings for the stator. Red-Brown was 5. Brown-Black got nothing. White/Green-Black was 87. White/Red-Black was 16. So I guess the Brown-Black coil is shot. Keep your eyes peeled on Ebay fellas, cuz theres gonna be alot of parts going up for auction in the next few days!!! If you guys need a particular part, let me know and maybe you can get it before i put it up for auction. Gotta take lots of pictures so it probably wont be till wednesday oor so before anything goes up, so put in your requests before that.

Found a place in canada that will repair a stator for $150usd. called rmstator. I'll drop them a line before i do anything rash. Figure if i can get it on the road for that price i'll keep it..

When i check the reading for the brown to black wire for a reading of 329 ohms and dont get anything, but get good readings for the other wires, is it safe to say that the stator is the problem and not the cdi?

Hallo, check the wiring between the coil itself and the connector also check the coil itself , if you are luckky it maybe the soldering from the coil to the wire here is a manual about repairing the 330ohm coil ,sadly it is in swedish but with pictures. www.greenray.se:3000/articles/2006/05/17/tändplattanyou can always send your stator to one of the repair/rewindshops. i know a very good one in germany. there also is a german aftermarket statorsupplier for xt/sr

This thread is a little old but I had the very same problem a couple of years ago. My bike ran great one day and was dead the next. One of the ignition coils was blown. I emailed someone parting out a 78' on ebay and bought his stator for $35! He didn't realize he was selling gold. ;D I spent a few hours switching everything over and it has worked ever since.

The same thing happened to me - the low speed coil went open circuit (0 ohms between the brown-black wires - should've been 329 ohms). It just wouldn't start one day after work (had to happen in town, and not at home - great timing! ). A tow home and about AUD$180 later for a rewind and I was back on the road. Rgdz CL
