... Ive bought a Honda XR400 (horsehoe cooler) which you get on Ebay now and again... Charlie Charlie I just got one of the horseshoe oil coolers from eBay. I was considering the Lockheart cooler with SR plumbing already attached but found the XR400 oil cooler up for auction and decided on that. I decided that the honda horseshoe cooler was just, well... COOLER! Here is a photo I googled up on the horseshoe cooler (this one has the input fitting turned around by cutting it off and re-welding): I'll post my experiences with getting it hooked up on my SR when it comes. I intend to mount it on the downtube just below the gas tank. Charlie, I'd be interested in comparing notes on our mounting process with you.

In the Summer here in Canberra mine get to between 90 - 100...sits around about 95 degrees or so up in the hills. I'm toying with fitting one to my DCM...but can't yet make up my mind about the placement of it...might explore mounting it under the base of the seat... SR

...might explore mounting it under the base of the seat... SR How will you get airflow to it Stew? If you are talking about the Honda part the horseshoe shape sort of lends itself to being placed around a frame member. Here is a photo of the cooler in it's stock placement: That doesn't work on a stock SR because the headlight bracket occupies that spot. I've decided to use the downtube and there already is a small tube there (holding little rubber tank stops) that may be able to hold a bolt to secure the cooler. Mine should come in today so I'll be able to post pictures of its placement soon.
