Hmmm...finger trouble...try again... I prefer the Bridgestone BT45's...great tyre in my experience. I use a 100/90 front and a 120/90 rear. SR

I just put on the BT45s last month based on recommendations from this board, and I like them.

Thanks, guys! Motorcycle shop recommends Dunlop GT501. Total cost is $360. I remember that tire is $240, Labor is 120. Is it normal? This price is unbelievable for me...

Hallo
my dealer charges 25 euro when you ask him to place a tyre on the rim that you didnot buy at his shop. it takes 10 -15 min to fix it, balancing included

25 euro! Our dealer charges $10 australian, as long as you take the wheel off the bike yourself. And refit the wheel of course. Can't get over the price you guys are paying for tires. Mine was $100 aus, plus 15 for a tube. Not super dooper tire, a Dunlop K70, but I have not yet managed to outrun the tires capabilities yet, so it must be good enough. Mick

I concure with the Bridgstone BT45's, thats what I run on my cafe' racer and is what I will probably fit onto the classic racer that I am building.
Having said that, I still run Dunlop K81's on my stock SR that is used as my daily ride. I have run K81 for most of the past 28 years and find them quite predictable, ie. they do occasionally let go and slide but through experience I know when it will happen. The only down side is a tyre life of about 5000km, bot I havn't found a tyre that get good life on a SR.
The lowest tyre life I have experienced was a Pirelli Phantom back in the early 1980's which was through to canvas in under 2000km, it gave great grip while it lasted.

Hi,
$120 fitment seems a long way over the to to me. Take the wheel off yourself and take it in to them, or get a mate to do so if you aren't confident...
Here in Canberra they'll fit and balance the tyre for 'free' if you take the wheel in to them. Guess they put the fitting into the price.
There's certainly a lot of variety Worldwide isn't there. Where about are you?

how wide can you go with the rear tire? 130?

Hi, I wouldn't go any wider than a 120 on a standard rim...even that size is stretching things a little. I do use 120's myself... SR
