Hi Guys,couldn't use caferacer or caferacer carl, both taken, so had to resort to "stopusingmyname" Buts its me Carl, I wrote the VMX article on 500 engines,good to see Stew Ross and Colin Jay here,I have been told to sign up to this forum for ages. I can help with the sticky questions if need be, cheers .

Welcome aboard Carl.
I bought issue 30, with the second installment of the article, where you talked about getting the good parts and getting the right clearances on the piston.
I particularly liked what you said about making sure the cam has the right base circle diameter. I have a mechanic mate who says he could not agree more with your thinking.
The bit that frustrates me is I've been keeping my eye open for issue 31, but I have not seen it yet.

VMX is only a quaterly read, so might be another month or six weeks yet, can't remeber when the last one came in. I've been following the 500 articles too, waiting for the third part.....

Issue 31 of VMX has been out for quite a while, I normally get my copy via ebay, but I have noticed that my local newsagent is now getting it in and they have had copies of issue 31 on the shelf for at least 4 - 6 weeks.

Gday
First time thought iI had better put something down .Ex Adelaidian living in Bundaberg Got what I think is a tingate sr bought off a guy in Alice 8 or so years ago.Been round bikes all my life owned close to 50 now . Currently got the sr an 83 yz490 75 cr125 and a drz 400 for a ride bike. looking forward to learning a bit about the sr want to get it back to pristine if I can.Will try to put photo of sr on when I work out how to .
