Bize...a "CDN" is a Canadian. And like Chris, I'd love to see the SR400 imported over here to the "New World", but it probably won't happen. The SR500 was a sales failure when they were imported in 78-79. So was the SRX600 in 86, which was sold here for only 1 model year. Where I live in Ontario, Canada, 80% of the bikes are cruisers and Japanese Harley-Davidson wannabe's.

I was going to correct Marlon, there are more than three Steak and Kidney's on here. I'm in that bag also (though my SR is out injurued ) I love your colour scheme on the SR mate, similar to my SR250. Thats up there with my favourite sheme, excpet for th at all blcak one they did, and the silver is good too. Great deal too by the sound of it. Where did you get it/Who did you import it through?

Hey Bize!
Wasn't a tricky "e-shortform"!
CDN = CANADIAN welcome!!
I was looking at your pic in more detail and saw your note about lightening up................wanna send me those nice alloy passenger footpegs?!!! I need a set for my '06 DL 650 - Suzuki must do the cheapest passenger pegs available, and the rubber inserts turn and fall out!!! (Yes, something of a travesty, but our days of two-up touring on the SR are behind us. And like the SR, it's kinda different.)

Ah, "Canadian", ok. . . hahah.
My boss is also one of the owners of Deus Ex Machiner. I bought the bike off him before it became one of Deus' latest batch of showroom floor stock.
LOL, I wonder how much postage to Canada for the pillion pegs would be.

Hi Bize!
Heh, heh - don't know about postage cost, but I could darn soon find out! Actually both sets are the alloy ones, now that I look closer. Nice touch...........ours are clunky steel ones from the late '70s XS models.
Really like the reverse megaphone style muffler on there too - does it still have the big, ugly chamber that sits under the engine?
The BETTER question would be the cost of an almost-new SR400 from Zeus, and the cost to ship it to Ont, Canada....................oh to be independently wealthy. On that note, better get back to work!

Chrisbikes: Actually (without currently knowing the exact weight) the postage would be less than AUD$20. . . and yeah, they are allow one. The rubbers also only screwed on and the peg underneath is still actually quite neat looking with them. The pipe currently on the bike (the one in the pic) is still the stock one. . . What I meant by reverse megaphone is this: To answer your question the stock SR400s at Deus are selling for around AUD$8,500. Milkman: Yeah I love that shop. Once I'm fully qualified, I'm going to try and convince my boss that he needs me more in that workshop than his Parramatta store

Hi, Do you work for Rod Bize? SR

Yeah, I'm doing my apprenticeship at Action Motorcycles. Quite a few of the Deus bikes get built there, which is probably one of the factors that got me off my arse and finally started my own, instead of just dreaming about it.

Bize!
Just so you know, AUS$20.00 is about CDN$18.00 - our dollar is riding high right now! The SR400 via AUS is still a bit pricey however. I'll just have to drool over the pics I guess.
I was in the local Yamaha dealer on the weekend and saw that a used R6 has the same alloy pegs.........so I'm guessing that's fairly standard recent Yamaha kit, and I can get some from the 'breakers - goodness knows there are more than a few thrown down around here! And you should save ALL your stock bits for someone who may want to restore to original.
Marlon:
I agree that the CBR125 is a tad small - especially as Honda has a really nice air-cooled CBR250 in Mexico that they could've brought in. Think the gambit was to get people in with the modern superbike "flash", and then have them trade up. Said local Yamaha dealer was telling me that Honda Canada dealers had sold out of the little CBRs........so maybe the big H is on to something???
My mostly stock red '78 rolled over 39,000 kms this past week - motor is untouched except for maintenance.

I'm a bit of a small bike fan...that little 125 appeals to me, FI and all. One of my pet projects is to build a Honda S90 racer. The factory produced them and they're really a neat looking little thing. SR

Hey Chris. Just to let you know: The R6 pegs are very similar to my SR's pegs (once the rubbers are removed) The R6 onces are simply a bit more "spikey" on the foot area and don't have any screw holes to mount rubbers, but for all intents and purposes the R6/R1 pegs would be the same.
