Watch a few videos of how they start them. They can kick back. Usually can slowly kick startor till it gets that white mark in the window. Return the kick startor to the top of its range and give it a good kick. If everything is good should kick over. Seasoned riders of the SR don't look at the window as they know how it feels at the top.

Hi all,
Thinking there must be another issue as she just won't start. Quick spark plug question if i may aswell. The bike currently has a BPR7ES which is producing a weak spark. I've checked the plug cap as pops suggested and indeed it refers to the 5k resistor. I have therefore now got a new NGK BP7ES plug (as the manual suggests) but I now have no spark at all! What are the chances of a faulty plug? Very unlikely? I was expecting a stronger spark. If I switch back to the original, I get the weak spark again (which presumably suggests the leads and plug cap are OK?)
She has sat for best part of 8 months with old fuel prior to the last couple of weeks, so is a blocked carb a realistic possibility?
Thanks

If you start a new thread in the relevant section of the forum for any other issues as they crop up, that would be best. Add any pics as you go.
On your current situation, I'd discard the fuel in the tank, since you have no idea of source or age now! Avoid supermarket fuel as a rigid principle. Look for E5 rather than E10. Your carb could def do with a turn on the bench to see what's what inside.
I might also be tempted to renew the HT cap and lead for the few ££ they will cost so you can start to lay down your own baseline of "what's what & when" in terms of the critical parts needed to get the thing going. Then anything you haven't renewed or cleaned up is the culprit, or at least worth discussing, if it still won't start.
