Good luck with that too! I tried for 2 years to find exactly that! Disc brake spoked rears are rare. Only a very specific RD350 that was made for only one year until they went to cast, otherwise late model MX wheels is the only option. I heard a certain model XT600, but beware, most hubs are too wide and somewhere else in this forum someone actually cut one in half to make it narrower and welded it back together! If you can find one, you'll still have to modify to fit the SR rear caliper. If you go to that trouble, you are better off finding a lighter caliper and make a carrier as the SR rear caliper hanger is heavy and the brake pad anti-rattle shims tend to break. I ended up converting from disc to drum with an XT500 hub and drum swingarm. You do need to make a wheel spacer to replace the rear brake hanger. The Honda CB750 SS had a rear spoked disc hub...... oops it was the Honda CB750 K7

if i'm correct 1974 and up had a disc, the one i picked up was a direct bolt on but i don't recall what year it was. yamaha's site has a parts catalog that is the same as the dealer uses. this is how i order my parts,if there wrong i have no one to blame but myself,i also use it as a cross refrence. checkit out,Bob

(snip) as for the front wheel WHICH YEAR XS650 front wheel do i need? i got one from a 1972 and the hub is nothing like the SR one... it has no place for a front disc. thanks! brianw - Here's a link to the Yamaha USA site mentioned by Yamatopdog above: www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx You should be able to find the fiche for the 1972 XSB from which your wheel likely came. You will notice that the XSB has a two piece brake rotor. The disc itself and what Yamaha calls a "Bracket Disc". The bracket and disc are bolted together but it appears that the bracket fits into the hub with two dampers, and possibly is held in place by the forks when the axle nut is tightened (just a guess since I don't see any bolts securing the bracket to the hub). Very unusual arrangement -- and one they quickly abandoned since there was no 1973 XSB and it wasn't until 1975 that the XS650 came to market; tho there was a 1973 TX650 that was substantially the same as the XS650. Perhaps T stood for "transitional". But I digress If you didn't get that disc assembly with the wheel, I'd recommend contacting the person who sold the wheel to you and buying the assembly. Or you can order it from Yamaha -- and pay the price. Or find a 1973-74 TX650/TX750 front wheel or '75 or later XS650 front wheel. The main difference between those wire spoke wheels seems to be whether it comes with a steel or aluminum rim, at least until you get to the era of the cast aluminium wheels (1978 on). In the 1980's, Yamaha put several kinds of wheels on the XS650's including one with a huge number of spokes (80?). Bling that makes a Harley blush. Just kidding, nothing makes a Harley blush. Most likely, that wheel would work for you too. Bill
