Hello, and thanks for making such a killer site!
I know the other guy scored an awesome deal for 20$, But I was pretty stoked on my 350$ score.
A registered, street legal, strong running, slightly rusted, 1980 XT500.
Im totally addicted already! Would love to build into a reliable but trick streettracker/supermotard type of bike.
I will post some pics soon.
Thanks for the board, and all the help I'm sure you guys will share!!

Hello G-man.... Thanks for the welcome, and informative post! I will try and posta pic here in a minute. Also, I am not sure the exact rules on this, but here goes... Anyone interested in this bike, it is about 10 miles from my house. I have not talked to him, but just emailed him asking the price... If any of you buy it, I would be glad to pick it up and store it for a short while until you can ship it or help you ship it somehow?! Anyways, thanks again...... Hello Dave, Thanks for the welcome! I took a ride this morning to check the surf! It was pretty flat... Here are a few pics.... I polished the tank, and repaired a small ding. I need to sand a bit more, then nice big sticker!! New shocks, 1 can of flat black, 1 can of gloss black.... and 1 can of gloss white for the fenders! tossed the air box! Needs a seat cover, and front end is slightly rusty... Anyways, she runs like a champ! Now its time to start buying parts to build a flattracker style SM..... Nice to meet all of you, Brock

All of you guys are pretty cool! Thanks for the cool site, cool stories and comments! The break is Seaside reef... Border of Solana Beach & Cardiff I grew up around the corner... So now that I am addicted to this bike, I really would like to modify the whole bike. Engine, carb, front end, swing arm, suspension, and both brakes. Is there a specific XT forum you guys know about? I have searched this forum and found many informative posts. Just trying to make it easier on the pocket book and time. Would like to know about mainly bolt on stuff... Thanks again, Brock PS. I can get these shocks for 80.00$ + shipping if anyone wants some. Theres a guy on ebay selling the same ones for 118 + shipping... Let me know thesurfingplumber@gmail.comDoes anyone know what kind of front end this is?

Brock welcome to the forum. That XT was built by Dave who runs the XT forum. He sold it to Cobra3570 and was destroyed along with others in his house fire. But after a year of work it is back better than ever. The forum address is www.yamaha-xt500.co.uk . It cost 10 pound to join.Well worth it. Any question don't be scared to ask. Nice looking thumper you've got there. My first piece of advise is get rid of the foam filter and buy a K&N filter. Why? If it back fires good by filter and bike. ( Stew thanks for putting the photo of my motard up.) Curly
