hi - i can't seem to get the inline images to work so here's a couple of flickr links to my bike. she has a shortened YZ250 USD front end - discs front and rear and ohlins 36ps i was stunned how much the ohlins smoothened out the power pulses from no cush drive.. anyway - your comments and criticisms are appreciated. the next project is to upgrade the brakes - then fit the badass 540 engine and FCR i have waiting..... you'll have to cut and paste the entire link - simply clicking doesn't work. (i though i was pretty web-savvy - but this system completely confounds me) ken in NZ

I have modified your post for you so the pics show.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I am completely mystified why the pic/image thing baffles so many people lately. It IS an easy thing to use.
Please click on any forum category and open the announcement which has been posted at the top of every category on the forum in an attempt to help aid everyone in posting their pics.
p.s.: I absolutely love your bike and would really like to see more!

hello - and thanks for your comments . here's a bit more info:
bike has tt500 alloy swingarm - YZ250 rear hub with YZ450 disc and yz250 caliper etc - about to change this for something better - have picked up GSXR1000 k5 caliper and master cylinder.. was also thinking of putting a 4 pot on the rear! - it has a rearward weight bias - anyone had this idea before? trying to find a better front disc to start a front brake upgrade too -the YZ MX stuff is pathetic. looking at Vanem's nissin 6 pot and master cylinder.
i am using 19" front and 17" rear and the avon distanzas in the softer compound.
bike has pro taper bars too -and DRZ400 SM mirrors that are very good. i use buell indicators as they are cheap and good looking.
the 540 motor i have is from a racebike - has very nice ported head - but the previous owner swapped the cam back to a std one. can anyone recommend a good midrange cam for a 540 with a new Keihin FCR 41 from sudco?
also - the new carb only has a velocity stack - is there somewhere i can get a K+N that will bolt on the the FCR?
i'm going to swap the motor last - i'd like to get the braking and chassis sorted. i think i need a couple of extra inches rear ride hight - i would like to get some ride height adjusters installed on the ohlins - i think the tt500 swing arm has different shock mounting distances from the sr500 arm and is making the rear too low....
of course the bike is so far away from std - no-one can give me geometry advice...
any thoughts?

oh - and that d**n supermoto front fender is temporary too. i will get a harley sportster style or daytona one and get it painted - but as the front end is USD - i will have to have some brackets to mount it made - there are no mounts... k

they are really good! i was told there are two different compounds - the standard and the softer supermoto compound. i have the softer of the two apparently, and their grip is excellent - wet - and dry.

was also thinking of putting a 4 pot on the rear! - it has a rearward weight bias - anyone had this idea before? I had a opposed piston caliper on my old chassis and it was WAY overkill. I changed it to a single piston caliper and it STILL is plenty. Too much chatter at the rear when riding hard. It will want to lock up. of course the bike is so far away from std - no-one can give me geometry advice... any thoughts? I knew I had posted my bikes chassis dimensions somewhere. Took a bit to find but, heres the meat of the post. These numbers are off my TT framed SR500 and were simple achieved by the use of a longer swingarm and taller rear shocks (or shock in my case). Fork offset---1.380" (35mm) Rake-----------25.5 degrees Wheelbase---56" (142.24cm) Trail------------4.5" (114mm)
17" wheels front and back Fork length is .5" (12mm) longer that stock SR forks.
These numbers are similar to most any current 600 crotch rocket and were measured with zero suspension sag.

THANK YOU !! the geometry info is brilliant! i really appreciate it - by no sag - do you mean with a rider's weight? thanks again

By "no sag" I mean that the suspension is topped out. Not even bike weight on it. Really the only true way to compare. It gives a common point for all bikes to be measured from. Overall bike weight, front/rear weight ratio, rider weight, suspension settings are all variables that are to difficult to control and all will effect the wheelbase, rake, and trail.
