If the bore is the same 400 vs 500 and the only difference is the crank - STOP RIGHT THERE. [me putting myself in your shoes-sell the bike and buy a different one]
A crank is a whole different ball game from a piston. Bottom ends sometimes take special tools and a fair amount of know how, and many $$. The top ends on these bikes are not much harder than a 2-stroke.

At a trade forum i started talking About SR to, one of the guys there pointed me this out : www.powroll.com/have a look at : stroker !............interesting ! If you look for something cheaper, think K&N filter, and weight loss !

Thanks Dutchy! My dad had a stroker in his PRB Clubman engine for a while... interesting, and a huge increase in power but the engine was always a bit finnicky.
Aside from changing the rims, not much else can be shaved off the bike. I've already got the K&N's too.
