Hey G-man, I am the tech guy, web-guy, and former programmer with a Master's Degree in Information Technology. I post regularly on the Supermoto Junkie website and the WERA website. Both of them let you post directly. As you can see on the admin side of your site, I posted the proper url in between your tags. Of course, there was absolutely NOTHING in the tutorial about adding JPG to the end of the url to make it show up. Whatever . . . .the present method of posting photos to the SR500 board is pretty chinsy (read: poorly done) But thank you for correcting the problem, and now I know how to do it in the future. Also, I will look into one of the other sites for hosting pics as FLICKR requires significantly more effort than what is already required. . . . CHEERS

Hey G-man, I am the tech guy, web-guy, and former programmer with a Master's Degree in Information Technology. And you still can't post pictures on a forum? ;D Don't have a shot at those that are trying to help you. You come off looking far sillier, and I daresay arrogant than you probably are in real life.

Of course, there was absolutely NOTHING in the tutorial about adding JPG to the end of the url to make it show up. Take a closer look at the end of the highlighted area. Whatever . . . .the present method of posting photos to the SR500 board is pretty chinsy (read: poorly done) It's a Proboard thing. Not a SR500 board specific thing. I just took a look at about 6 or 7 other boards I frequent and all of them have a similar process to posting pics as here. IE: they all require .jpg on the end. (even the WERA page. I just checked) I'll have to check out the ones your referring to so I can understand what a non chinsy method of posting pics is like. You got me curious now BTW....Effort is trying to start an SR when you don't know how. Not a few extra clicks of a mouse. Anyway.......back to SR's. THAT'S what we are here for!! ;D

So back to the topic......
You mentioned that you learnt some lessons from the cut job. What were they Frank? I'm thinking of cutting just aft of the seat bolt points.

Right, back to the project. When I cut the sub, I cut it, like the pic. The picture is of the rough cut, which I will finish, this week. It came out like this: Of course I will even it up, and clean up the rough edges. As you can see I cut through the "box section" of the subframe. Once I cut, I found that the round tube went inside of the box section. I took this picture of it: I thought that the box section of metal was welded onto the round tube with very little of the round tube extending into it. Once I cut into it, I found that the round tube extended much furhter into the box section than I had anticipated. Of course I intend to stop cutting at the end of the round tube, but I am not sure how to proceed from there. I was intending on cutting the top portion of the box section of tubing down so I would have a flat, level platform on which to put my seat. Now, I am not so sure. Thoughts? Comments? Ideas? Thank you in advance.

Also, here is a pic of the original frame, from the side view. The red line indicates my present cut you saw in the previous pictures. In this pic, the green line indicates my intended cut across the top of the subframe to produce a "level" platform to mount my seat. I fear this to be the most difficult part of modifying the subframe. Any input at this point would be most useful. Thanks again! ;D

I sortta see what you are trying to do, but its difficult to come up with any ideas without seeing the seat you intend mounting on it. I will be pairing away the box section to leave the tube sticking out, to which I will add a frame loop made from tube, rather like an XT frame on my 'tracker'. I will leave the lower part where the suspension lug is to extend along the tube and weld it so it looks like any other frame of that design. All of the top section of the box will be carefully trimmed off. I'd love to post some pictures but due to an XS650 with charging problems and a Triumph Daytona with a busted suspession link I won't have any time for a while to play about! In the mean time here's a piss poor rough sketch

Nice pics guy! Thanks Frank, exactly what info I was after. Welding a piece onto the tube after removing the box section will be easy with a dowl in place. Hey Aero, do you know how far that tube section extends through the box section?
Will you have enough clearance from the rear wheel if you have a flat rear section Frank? I have some longer rear shocks being fitted 330mm which will give me a bit more clearance but was hoping to mount my seat as your sugesting. Flat on the rails!
