Hi Kena, you're asking someone who last posted in this thread 16 years ago!
It took 2 bites of the cherry to get my carb really clean a while back. Do you know anyone can give it a dunk in a sonic bath? Is that pilot jet definitely the right size and thoroughly clean? Could rust from the tank be getting into your fuel line? Does the fuel drained from the bowl look free of sediment/rust? Frustrating, yes, but only ruthless attention to these sort of details gets results after a long lay up.
Have you drained off the old fuel and now using fresh? Is the pulse coil air gap in spec? Is the plug sooty or wet at the point it dies? Is the inlet manifold hard and cracked? Spray some easy start at the inlet manifold while idling and see if the revs rise. Would indicate air leak. Likewise check the clips around the air filter hose and inlet manifold for tightness. Hopefully a simple mechanical fix.
