Hi, The work continues...Carl is busy on the head and barrel and I am awaiting a Carillo rod to arrive from the US via QLD...I figured that as the crank is still out of the bike it would be fairly simple to remove the standard, but new rod, and replace it at this point. Rather than wish I'd done it later after the engine is all assembled. The head, barrel and cases will be going to Hydroblast in Melbourne for a guarranteed good job...and no damage...I'll let you know how that all goes. SR

Hi, The head and barrel for the new bike arrived back today! Really beautiful work Carl! The Ti retainers and R&D valve springs are set up for height so that saves me doing the work...new standard valves and a decent angle job on the seats...nice porting work as well. The Hydroblast finish on the parts is also extremely flash...the cases will go off soon for the same treatment. I was going to re-paint the cases, but not now! I'll post a pic of the bits when I can take some....the Carillo rod isn't far away now so that'll be next. Nice when things start coming together...well in boxes at least anyway... SR

WOW Stew Those parts look fantastic ,I'm just about to have a similar job done on my head & and cases ,Now I'll have to start looking for a Hydro blasting company . Just a couple of things , the head is just as clean on the inside was it not necessary to mask up the cylinder head ?, I also have a set of the R&D valve springs amd new OEM valves and i am thinking of replacing the valve guides, when you changed your guides was it nesserary to ream them or was you lucky and everything was OK ? Cheers LURCH

Hi, The gasket surface was masked up and so remained un-marked...the valve guides are genuine and were reamed by Carl at the same time... SR

Hi, One thing I have done on the cases when I sent them away was to mask up a fair bit of stuff. The SR cases have a lot of little places that I would prefer not to be blasted...things like the gasket surfaces, the oil pump area..I made up a blank for that...the oil line sealing surfaces etc. The cases are quite complicated castings in a way. Hi, Got the Carillo rod at last, now to have it fitted to the crank. I'll keep the new standard rod that I had originally had installed as a spare for my other bikes. The project moves along, albeit a little slowly... SR

Wow It sounds just like my project dream. All Yama parts, fast but with more modern chassi, still with a classic look. Please send som pictures. I´m gathering information and work hard to summarize the specifications. This fall i will start buing all the parts for my future dream. Special interrest is....R6 fork with real brakes. How is this possible ? New spoked wheels but wider than originals. What can I put on ?
Sounds exciting !
