Marlon, I think we've all just got used to it being strict we have no other choice, when the yearly test is coming up I try to be sure that everything is A1 before I get tested, that isn't always possible 'cos sometimes they'll fail something that I thought was OK like "a little weakness" in the rear shocks for example. Problem being with our bikes is that spares aren't always available immediately, so it pays to plan ahead, If you can't get your certificate then you can't get your road tax disk and you're either off-roaded or liable for a heavy fine if you get caught (£1000.00) they can even confiscate and CRUSH your vehicle in the UK for having no road tax ! ! ! Some people get "stung" with a huge bill (seems like a ransom) by a garage just to get a bike or a car through the test, some people will pay almost anything to get their vehicle through the yearly agony. And of course some garages will stich you up if they are in need of the work. As for the difficulty in getting a motorcycle licence in the first place, newcomers still seem determined however hard they make it ! So I suppose that you don't wanna come and live here now :-) As for me I wish I was off to south of westOz with Dave it sounds like a dream come true there! Cheers all,,,,,,,,,John

That's interesting. My rego involved a apprentice checking the indicators, headling and gave the tyres a push. It had no mudguards at the time... The SR isn't up for renewel yet but I can't see what problems there will be.
What a pain in the arse - I'm almost glad to see that there is another country in world that monsters you worse than over here. Every time I turn around there's another bloody tax, fine, levy or roadworthy check or increase on insurance. Keep an eye on carbon restrictions coming soon...
Getting a licence over here is actually a fairly sensible system. First a two half-day course on CB250's learning how to turn and stop. Go sit a computer test on the road rules and you get your L's. Go for another full day of testing - emergency stopping, u-turn, cone weave, emergency swerve an a lot of road riding with an instructor and you get your P's for a year. All the while you're restricted to 675cc's, depending on power to weight. (Daytona's aren't learner-legal, while XS650's are)

Its bliss for sure I'm always looking for 250s to do up as they sell like hotcakes as you can only ride a 250 for your first year & you also can only learn on them . The value only drops so low so you can get good dollars for an old 250 . I've actually made a grand just buying & cleaning a couple of them up , the dollars always goes into the next project (or it just covers my losses on some of the bigger bikes I've done).You know , those bargains you get that are just somebody elses headaches , cheers Dave.

Mate if your a tradie or got any quals we need you .Its ballistic over here at the moment plenty of work & no end in sight (unless China falls into the sea or my rear end starts facing upwards) cheers Dave.
