I realized this morning that my gorgeous chrome Supertrapp megaphone was cracked all the way around just forward of the frame mount. I am pissed! Is this common? What do you think my chances of welding it back together are? I'm guessing just about nil.

My SR tends to crack the muffler mount about every 6 months even though it is mounted on a large rubber pad. Mig welder takes care of the cracks but doesnt do much for the chrome.

I have a mig welder and an oxygen/acetylene setup. I was thinking I would braze it with brass rods. If you had access to both, would you still use the mig?

Guess its what you feel most comfortable with. Both are going to stuff the chrome work. I like the mig as it is easier to use.I give the weld a squirt of silver paint and it looks half decent.
